The Right Watering Schedule for Coppell Lawns
The Right Watering Schedule for Coppell Lawns
The biggest mistake we see in Coppell? Watering every day for 10 minutes. That trains roots to stay shallow and burns through your water bill. Deep, infrequent watering is the right answer.
The rule
Apply 1 inch of water per week, in 1 or 2 sessions. Done.
Spring (Mar-May)
Once a week, early morning. Skip if it has rained in the last 5 days.
Summer (Jun-Aug)
Twice a week, early morning. Each session should put down 0.5 inches.
Fall (Sep-Nov)
Once a week, dropping to every 10 days as temperatures cool.
Winter (Dec-Feb)
Only water if there has been no rain for 3+ weeks. Bermuda is dormant; it does not need much.
How to measure 1 inch
Put empty tuna cans around your yard during a watering session. When they are full to 0.5 inches, that is your run time. Water that long, twice a week, in summer.
City watering restrictions
Coppell follows year-round outdoor watering rules. Check coppelltx.gov before setting your schedule.
